You are invited to participate in a research study designed to explore student, practitioner, and faculty perceptions and experiences of professional development in the context of Interprofessional (IP) education and practice. This study, entitled, Navigating Professional Identity Development within Interprofessional Health Care Settings”, is being undertaken by a team of faculty and staff of Dalhousie University, led by Dr. Marion Brown (School of Social Work).
You are eligible to participate if:
- You have or currently contribute to curriculum development in any aspect of interprofessional education within your faculty. Your contribution may be IP education development, delivery and/or design and/or IP preparation for clinical practice.
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to attend an interview of approximately 1-1.5 hours, in which to share your perceptions of professional identity and their influence on IP education and collaboration. Interviews will be held at a mutually convenient location (i.e. a location at your workplace or on the Dalhousie campus). Please note that by volunteering for this interview you contractual arrangement (e.g., you are not being entering a contractual agreement and can leave the research process at any time.
You will be asked to consent to audiotape of the interview as the central means for capturing the data. You will also be asked to consent to the use of quotations from the transcripts, which will only be used anonymously, attributed to, for example a ’clinical nursing instructor’. The results of the study will be made available to you upon request, as well as Directors of academic units within each of the four Schools, Administrators within the President’s Office, Dalhousie University associated with Interprofessional Education and the Deans of Medicine and Health Professions.
