The purpose of our research is to explore the professional identity dimensions of IP collaboration from the multiple perspectives of students, practitioners and faculty who study, work and educate in the professions of nursing, social work, occupational therapy and medicine. We seek to understand how participants make sense of the messages that emphasize that their profession has particular expertise and a unique domain of knowledge, while at the same time encouraging collaborations and sharing of tasks which may blur disciplinary and professional lines. From these data a conceptual framework will be formulated and used to guide the development of educational interventions and teaching strategies
